President Jokowi visits North Kalimantan to plant mangrove trees

UPDATEBALI.com, Jakarta – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), along with several ambassadors, environmental activists, and residents, are scheduled to plant mangrove trees during a working visit to North Kalimantan Province on Tuesday.

The president and his limited entourage departed for North Kalimantan aboard the presidential airplane Indonesia-1 via the Halim Perdanakusuma Airbase in East Jakarta on Tuesday morning, the Press Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat announced in a written statement released on Tuesday.

Upon arrival at the Anang Busra Airbase in Tarakan City, the president will continue his trip to Tana Tidung District aboard an Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) Super Puma helicopter and speedboat

The head of state will plant a mangrove tree at Bebatu Village, Tana Tidung.

Soon after planting mangrove trees, the president and his entourage will return to Tarakan City to observe the door-to-door vaccination of local residents in Karang Rejo Village and vaccination of students of state junior high school SMPN 1 Tarakan against coronavirus.

In Tarakan, he will also distribute assistance among street vendors in the Sebengkok culinary zone.

The president’s limited entourage comprised Minister/State Secretary Pratikno; President’s Military Secretary Rear Marshal M. Tonny Harjono; Commander of the Presidential Security Detail (Paspampres) Major General Tri Budi Utomo; and Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Media Bey Machmudin. (updatebali/antara)
